Meet Our Team:

Giovanni Piazza

Director

Giovanni has been a Director since 2016, and boasts a career spanning nearly 30 years. He has climbed the Timsons career ladder, from humble apprentice, to purchasing, through to Production Office Manager and Director. It’s safe to say, he’s got around a bit. Outside of work G enjoys family time, particularly watching his son play rugby, walking just about anywhere, and travelling, which he hopes to do more of in the future. He would also like it to be known that he is in fact younger than Martin.

Martin Hayes

Director

Martin also began his Timsons career as an apprentice in 1977. Becoming Foundry Manager in 1988, he was integral in the design and planning of the new foundry which opened on Water Street in 1997. In 2009 he became responsible for our entire manufacturing operation on Water Street. In 2014 he moved over to Timsons Engineering and 2 years later was made Director along with Giovanni. Outside of his directorial responsibilities, Martin enjoys spending time with family, cycling and has done Karate for the past 17 years.

Delia Hardwick

Accounts Assistant

Delia has been with Timsons since 2002, and primarily deals with the sales and purchase ledger. Day to day, she is responsible for book keeping, checking invoices and so forth. If you’ve ever called us, it’s more than likely you will have spoken to our Delia. Outside of work she enjoys walking her dog, and attending Yoga once a week where she’s able to catch up with friends.

Sam Bounds

Foundry Supervisor

Sam is our newly promoted Foundry Supervisor; having joined in 2008 as an accounts clerk she has since been involved with HR and Training admin, purchasing, order input, and general assistance in the management of the foundry. Now as Foundry Supervisor she is responsible for overseeing a smooth day to day operation, ensuring the prioritisation of work. In her out of office hours Sam spends a great deal of time with her horses, Lala and Joey.

Steve Houghton

Technical Support Engineer

Steve is our experienced Technical Support Engineer, having started his career with Timsons as a Draughtsman over 20 years ago. Progressing from there he led Print Unit Design, and his wealth of knowledge and decades of experience has enabled us to support Timsons Book Press customers and agents throughout the world, with spare parts and machine upgrades / changes. In essence, if it involves design, drawing or technical elements, Steve is all over it.

Sam Walker

Sales & Marketing

Sam has only been with Timsons Engineering for six months, but is already very much a part of the family. For the most part Sam is responsible for bringing home the bacon (figuratively speaking). The generation of new business is imperative to any company, so it‘s up to Sam to promote our good word and reputation to as many potential new customers as possible – no pressure then. Outside of work Sam enjoys socialising with friends and is a keen baker.

Ian Sleight

Spares Supervisor

Ian has been our Spares co-ordinator for two years now, having moved over to Timsons Engineering in 2015. Day to day Ian is responsible for the complete management of the stores operations, which includes but is not limited to; putting together quotes for our spares customers, estimation of manufactured and bought out parts and raising the applicable documentation. Upon receiving an order, Ian is responsible for processing it from start to finish, including any required purchasing. He also manages stock levels, and is the Nebosh health and safety representative for TEL. In his free time Ian particularly enjoys playing guitar, a pastime he has enjoyed since childhood.

Emma Nichols

Accounts Technician

Emma is our newest member of the team, but is already making quite an impression. Having a strong background in accounts prior to joining Timsons, Emma brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. Since joining in July she has been instrumental in assisting in the setup of our new ERP system, for which she is now Project Manager. In her spare time Emma volunteers at a local animal shelter which she has enjoyed doing for the past year. She also enjoys walking her dog and socialising with friends.

Darren Williams

Technical Estimator

Darren has only been with us since 2015, but is very much an integral part of the Timsons Engineering family. Darren’s primary responsibility is to provide fair and accurate quotations in a timely manner for our customers, ensuring complete customer satisfaction from RFQ to receipt of parts. He is therefore, an important point of contact for our customers. Outside of the office, Darren has been making guitars for over 3 years, and playing for over 20.

Stuart Evans

Manufacturing Supervisor

Stuart is another Timsons ‘Lifer’, who started his long career as an apprentice in 1975. He has come a long way since then, and is now our Manufacturing Supervisor. Day to day, Stuart is responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the machine shop, liaising with customers on their orders, and dealing with delivery queries. Outside of work Stuart enjoys life on the seas, exploring the world by cruise.
